My driver has always been the club that I have been most confident with. In order to drive the golf ball properly, you must first master the fundamentals of the swing.

When setting up to hit a drive, stand with your feet slightly greater than shoulder length apart, in an athletic stance, with your knees bent. The ball should be teed up in alignment with the inside of your left foot (for right handed golfers). Stand so that you do not need to reach too far in order for the clubface to be lined up with the ball. Your back should be slightly bent at an angle relative to your legs.

In order to consistently have a clean tee shot, don’t try to kill the ball! I see so many beginners walk up to the tee box, and swing at the ball with all their might. Usually the ball will end up sharply slicing or hooking, in either case, loosing a considerable amount of distance. Take a nice easy swing, especially on the backswing. Also, bring the club back so that it is parallel to the ground at the top of the backswing. It may even help to take a three quarter length swing to ensure that your club remains on the correct swing path.

Remember that most of your power will come from your torso; not your arms. It is therefore crucial to be conscious of keeping your swing in rhythm with you weight shift. Just like when hitting a baseball, your weight should shift from your back foot to your front foot as contact is being made with the ball.

Also, be sure to follow through completely. Do not try to stop the club right after making contact, as much power will be lost. When finishing, your left (front) food should still be planted onto the ground, and your body should be facing the target.

If you are planning to buy golf balls then you should be aware about a few things so as to make an intelligent and an informed decision. This decision will impact what you purchase and for how much.

Now if you are a beginner you need not go and buy yourself a high end golf ball. In the market there are golf balls that are available for beginners , intermediates and the absolute professionals. The factor is the kind of game you play and how do you play. The ball can vary if you are a long or a short hitter. The ball may vary if you hook more than you slice . That means you need to decide the type of game you play . Usually a short hitter would need the ball to go a long distance than a long hitter.

Rather than worrying about anything that I have said before the best bet for beginners is to get the cheapest possible balls and try to improve the game. At the beginner level you will probably lose a lot of balls and that may impact your budget. You are better off buying golf balls in bulk as that will help reduce cost. Also never ever lose sight of the fact that almost anybody who is an advanced player started as a beginner and patience definitely is a virtue you need to have.

There are two piece low compression balls available from leading manufactures of the ball which help in going good distances with even slower swing speeds. Then there is another type which is two piece performance golf ball which can go longer distances with absolutely no spin. As you gain proficiency in your game then you need to have advanced balls to help keep up with your game and these balls are known as multi layer balls. Each layer of the ball gives you several benefits like the urethane covers give that special spin, soft covers give that feel and firm mantle helps go the distance.

The advanced category of balls come with very high prices and make sure to check at all stores and compare prices before you buy the high end variety of golf balls. These golf balls definitely give you an edge when you play professionally but yes they cost a fortune.

So in short choosing a golf ball which is right for you is important so as to not to wash your budget with red ink but also gives you an opportunity to improve your game.

The author suggests buying in bulk corporate logo golf balls for getting that benefit of great prices. Most beginners should go for that as these special corporate logo golf balls are best for them and have steep discounts attached with them.

How many times have you had a bunch of trees slightly blocking your ball’s path to the pin? Wouldn’t it have been nice to be able to fade or draw the shot accordingly? It will take a bit of time at the range; but after a bit of practice, you will be confident in fading or drawing your shot.

The Draw:

A draw (for a right handed player), is when the golf ball curves slightly to the left when hit. It is less severe, and more desirable than a hook; which is when the golf ball sharply curves to the left (and often ends up in a pond or the woods).

How to Draw the Golf Ball:

• Stand with a slightly closed stance. This means that if you placed your club even with your feet, the club would be pointed slightly to the right of the target. You will therefore feel as if you are aiming to the right of the target.

• Close the club-face slightly, relative to how you are standing. This means the face of your club will be pointed at the target.

• Play around with this. Go to the range and try playing around with how much you close your stance, this will determine how much the ball will draw.

The whole idea of “closing your stance” causes your swing to have a slight “in-to-out” swing path; which is what causes the ball to curve to the left when hit. The club will make contact with the ball slightly below the ball’s equator (looking down on it).

The Fade:

A fade (for a right handed player), is the opposite of a draw; when the ball curves slightly to the right when hit. The fade is the more controlled form of a slice; which is when the ball wildly veers off to the right when hit.

How to Fade the Golf Ball:

• Just like you had a slightly closed stance with the draw, this time you will have a slightly open club face. Have your feet align slightly to the left of the target. You will feel as if you are aiming to hit the ball to the left.

• Open the club-face slightly, relative to how you are standing. It will again be pointed at the target.

• Again, practice this at the range. Test to see how much the ball curves relative to how open your stance is; the more you do this, the more confident you will be in judging how to fade the golf ball out on the course.

“Opening your stance” forces you to hit the ball on an “out-to-in” swing path. This means making contact with the golf ball slightly above the ball’s equator (looking down on it). The “out-to-in” swing path is what gives it proper spin to fade to the right.

Fading and drawing your golf shots may be tricky at first, but keep on playing around with it, and you will be able to fade or draw your shot around those trees with confidence and finesse. Those are the types of shots people “ooh” and “ahh” over, so get practicing!

Ball position golf swing is one of the first things that beginner golfers should work on, but many experienced golfers may also find some ball position golf swing tips useful, especially if they have been having some golf swing trouble. The right golf set up position means proper ball position golf swing.

Ball position golf swing determines if you will make solid contact with the golf ball, and a wrong ball position golf swing will result in awkward shots. Master this golf swing basic and it may be all you need to avoid hitting those slices, hooks, or fat shots.

Follow these 5 simple ball position golf swing tips to improve your shots or if you just want to brush up on the golf swing essentials.

1. The right ball position is different for each club, and you need to pay close attention to this. You don’t want to be hitting your long irons with the same ball position as your wedges.

2. The correct ball position for a driver is near your outside foot. This is your left foot if you are a right-handed golfer, and right foot for left-handed golfers. Keeping this ball position will allow you to strike the ball on the upswing and get the most distance in your shots.

3. Your middle irons should have a ball position equal to about one or one and a half ball lengths from the center of your stance. The divot you take in this ball position should be a little bit more shallow than with your short irons.

4. Your short irons and wedges, including the sand wedge, pitching wedge, nine iron, and eight iron, need to have a ball position near the center of your stance. These golf clubs must be swung at the steepest angle since they are the shortest. To test and see if you have the correct ball position for your short irons and wedges, make sure you are taking a divot that is directly in front of the golf ball, not behind it.

5. Lastly, long irons and woods should have a ball position a little closer to the middle of your stance than the ball position for the driver.

Learn these ball position golf swing basics, and you’ll be playing with more confidence and lowering your score significantly.

The driver can be without a doubt the most difficult club in the bag to hit. The reason for this is because it is longer and even the slightest swing flaw can put the wrong kind of spin on the ball resulting in either a slice or a hook. Here are a few tips to keep in mind when learning how to hit this club.

Tip 1: Maintain balance

Balance is critical in the golf swing because a balanced golf swing is usually much more accurate and on plane than an unbalanced one. One of the keys to staying balanced is to swing within yourself. You need to know your limits and then swing with control. Remember that it is not necessary to swing hard in order to hit the golf ball far.

Distance comes from making good contact and also from launching the ball at the correct launch angle and putting the right kind of spin on the ball. The formula for hitting a monster drive in the fairway can be rather complex but it is not impossible to accomplish.

Tip 2: Use proper equipment

The driver you choose should be based on your current swing speed. If your club head speed is under 100 mph then you need to choose a driver that has a regular flex and has loft greater than 10 degrees. If your club head speed is over 100 mph then a club with a stiff flex and loft lower than 9 degrees would be appropriate.

Tip 3: Build your wrist muscles

The wrist muscles play a vital role in swinging a golf club. Many tour players that look really skinny still have very powerful wrist muscles. This helps them to control the club and generate great club head speed. One way to build wrist muscles is to do wrist curls. Simply take some dumbbells and hold them to your side while standing and then move your wrists up and then down slowly. Make sure you feel your wrist muscles working and do not get other muscles involved in lifting the weights.

Tip 4: Practice

I hate to say this but there is no magic cure to hitting drives far and straight overnight, at least none that I have come across yet. The fact is that you will have to put the time and commitment necessary to learn the golf swing. This does not mean that you have to beat 500 golf balls a day. Rather hitting even a small bucket with focus and purpose on every shot can be effective done 3 to 5 times a week.

Focus on quality rather than quantity during your practice sessions. We all lead busy lives and most of us simply cannot commit massive amounts of time and energy to just golf so make sure you practice smart rather than hard.

Tip 5: Use leverage more effectively

There are a lot of tour pros that hit the golf ball a mile but they look really thin. Usually we would think that it is the big muscular guys that hit the ball far however in golf, leverage is the ticket to hitting the ball farther. Leverage is the angle created between the left hand and the club shaft on the downswing just before impact. You want this angle to be as small as possible so that the stored energy is released at the last moment and is transferred to the ball.

One way to create more leverage effortlessly is to think of the club as a whip and feel yourself whipping the golf club through the hitting zone. Also try to avoid getting your right hand involved in the down swing if you are a right handed player since this tends to result in casting the club or releasing the leverage angle too early, instead feel yourself pulling the club with your left hand through the downswing. Use some of these golf driving tips to help you hit the golf ball farther and straighter.

all position can lead to errant shots, including slices, hooks, duffs, fat shots, and thin shots.

Correct ball position golf swings come from a correct golf set up position. Your game can easily run into problems if you neglect to hone this basic part of the golf game. All facets of the game will be affected with poor execution of the ball position golf swing. It is the first lesson beginner golfers try to learn and it is part of the game experienced golfers try to master. Perfecting a golf swing begins with mastery of the ball position golf swing.

Consider these basic pointers on ball position golf swing if your golf shots are giving you problems in your golf game, or if you simply wish to raise your game some notches higher.

• Do not forget that the correct ball position needs to vary depending on the club. For example, you hit long irons differently with essentially similar ball position when you hit your wedges.

• For drivers, the proper ball position is near the outside foot. The outside foot is the left foot for right-handed golfers, and the right foot for lefties. The ball position lets you hit the golf ball on the upswing, so that your drive the ball to its farthest possible distance.

• For wedges and short irons, including the pitching wedge, the sand wedge, eight iron and nine iron, the ball position must be close to the center of the golfer’s stance. The golfer must swing these golf club at their steepest angle because they are the shortest clubs. You can test if your ball position is correct for your wedges and short irons by making sure you take a divot right in front of your golf ball, not anywhere behind it.

• For middle irons, the ball position must equal somewhere between one and a half to one ball lengths reckoned from the middle of the golfer’s stance. The divot he takes in such a ball position must be somewhat more shallow than with that for short irons.

• For woods and long irons, the ball position must be nearer to the center of the golfer’s stance compared to the ball position for drivers.
